Hello,
Active members in the Collective Bargaining initiative have been speaking to members of our organization over the last month to answer any questions and mitigate any concerns that have been raised over the newly enacted bill. This website has been built to help answer frequently asked questions and provide specific / verifiable information on topics covered within our discussions.
In this site you will find a copy of the signed bill, bill overview and current "rules" as provided by the department of labor. You will also find an information page with links to all of the benefits of the FOP as discussed in person, so that you can peruse those benefits and familiarize yourself with those straight from the source.
Transparency and communication are the top priority for those actively involved in this and we want to ensure this effort affords intentional, well thought out actions that benefit our organization as a whole, without creating division, adversity or negatively impacting the service to our community.
I believe the Legislative Declaration perfectly encapsulates the motives behind this effort for our organization and sets expectations for what this movement looks like for our organization:
"It is the purpose of this act to promote harmonious, peaceful, and cooperative relationships between counties and county employees in the state of Colorado; The creation of a statutory framework that recognizes the rights of county employees to join organizations of their own choosing, to be represented by those organizations, and to collectively bargain with their employer over wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of their employment will improve the delivery of public services in the state of Colorado; and collective bargaining for county employees is a matter of statewide concern that affects public safety and general welfare." - Legislative Declaration Colorado SB 22-230
